Mohave Desert Lizards and Snakes Clinic

These photos were taken at a 3-day clinic put on by the University of California Riverside Extension program at the Desert Studies Center at Zzyzx.  It was a fantastic course because our instructor/herpetologist, Jason Wallace, was motivated, interested and enthusiastic.  We herped (is that a term?) in various desert habitats over two days after our classroom introduction on Day 1.  On Day 2, we herped at night, looking for the many species of snakes that are primarily nocturnal. On Day 3 we helped Jason set up his reptile traps to conduct his monthly 3-Day research project.  We then returned to the traps (in sweltering heat) and checked to see what we’d caught.  I had a fantastic time.
